No one cares whether or not an inidividual is religious, believes in the tooth fairy or whatever. It's when these so-called religious people impose their form of particular religiousity on others such as requiring the team to huddle before a game etc..

How many of us have the intestinal fortitude to refrain from standing while prayers are offered at a public function?

How many are going to excuse themselves from the table when grace is said before dinner?

These actions all pre-suppose there will be no objection and therefore are inflicting a form of forced religion on the rest of us by challenging us to either object or just simply go along to get along. I've spent a lifetime wondering how republicans for one party, can shout from the rooftops about independance, freedom of thought, individuality, the benefits of industrious behaviour leading to success in most things, then in the very next breath give thanks to him from whence all things flow.

You cannot have it both ways. Either you are the master of your own destiny or you are not. In the case of the latter you are admitting to anyone and everyone you are prepared to take help from wherever you can get it, even a hypothetical, mythical sky demon.

Religious Republicans are the very epitome of an oxymoron.

If I were a football player I would say a prayer before I took my football theory test, especially at Nebraska.

Haar! You consider yourself the ONLY religious nuts on the planet now do ya chiefy? My post was aimed at all of those nutters wherever they may be, not just the "Semi" variety.

We have our own variety of religious nuts up here. They don't claim to have a lock on the franchise though.

I only read a few of the responses. If an athlete wants to pray -- let him. BUT, he needs to keep it to himself. I believe any Christian, Muslim. Buddhist, Animist or whatever can pray before a sporting event or before they eat. Just keep it personal. That's all.

Doesn't seem to be doing much good, does it?

Athletes are always suffering debilitating injuries during the games that they prayed ahead of.

NFL players are praying machines...they're also constantly getting carried off the field.

Maybe they should stop praying for safety.

Nobody said the prayer will save them did they? You go on and hope you don't get hurt. You remember hope right? Hope and change? All that. Obama said it but now it's all wrong. LOL

Tell me the percentage of players hurt in the NFL and get back to me non hoper.

Well...the reason is in the Bible.

God gave man dominion over the Earth.
