Is that really your test for assessing the competitiveness of our corporate tax structure?

If I take that $1000 put it toward a truck.....I write it off as depreciation.

France only taxes them on profits made in France.
The US taxes worldwide profits as soon as it hits our shores.

Right. Because we all know multimillionaires live in shacks to avoid property taxes.

Over 30% of "millionaires" live in middle class homes or lower.

Read "The Millionaire Next Door".

So what are you proposing? Their houses are taxed, their cars are taxed (depending on state), their income is taxed, their 401(k) contributions are either taxed, or will be taxed, their dividends are taxed and their stock will be taxed when they sell it. Are you saying everything they own they should be taxed simply because they own it?

Actually you just might. I have a relative that does this. Not all wealthy people like to advertise their wealth like celebrities do. A lot of wealthy people think of their money as their freedom so they keep their expenses down.

Many wealthy people want to keep it low profile because they know it opens them to frivolous law suits, friends and family coming out of the woodwork etc... I just saw a documentary on TV where this guy won millions in the lottery. He gave money to friends and family to help them. When he got into a little trouble those same people were no where to be found.

One "so called friend" took him for everything he had and once she had full control ended up murdering him.
