Most of the moral teachings of the Bible are UNIVERSAL. They do not favor one religion over another. There is no theocracy here.
The Bible is a religious text. Any rulings based on the Bible are informed by religion. A judiciary that bases all its rulings on the Bible is one of the tenets of a theocracy.
We do not live in a theocracy. That's a good thing.
You have to have someone tell you what is right and wrong? You have no morality outside of what the Bible tells you is right or wrong? If you never read a bible you'd be killing people and stealing?
Quote:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
It's even funnier because secular Europe has lower crime rates and equitable justice systems compared to states like Iowa and Mississippi where bible thumpers reign supreme.
Certainly these people wouldn't mind if people had a Koranic interpretation of the laws cause both texts advocate similar things if you read both.
