not really that hard to find out that this isnt the first time people have gone after sports teams, all you had to do is use google, but since you were more worried about your side of the debate than being right, you skipped over that.
Societal mores change with time. Something not offensive 70 years ago can be offensive now. If you were to look how people of various nationalities, religions and races were referred to then, it would be totally unacceptable today. Be that as it may, I agree that I don't think the patent office should have made a decision that the name was unacceptable. That decision should have been left up to the fans and the marketplace.

All the patent office did was cancel the trademark. That means somebody could use the name to make money and the team couldn't sue. It doesn't mean the name goes away.

The name goes away because the lost revenue is money shared between all 32 franchises.
If the other 31 owners are willing to let the revenue go I'd be shocked.

It is fake outrage, just because they go after a few teams, does not mean they are going after all the teams. Yes, this has been around for a while...everyone knows that, don't need google....sorry to dissapoint you.
