How in the hell did the forums filters fail to filter out such a racist phrase as gypped? Oh wait, it's not associated with black people or gays, never mind.

According to the Wikki: Romani are widely known among Anglophonic people by the exonym "Gypsies." There are an estimated one million Roma in the United States

99% of the population don't even know the origins of the word or that its a slur. I still say it all the time with little regard for the origin.

What someone means is more important than what they say.

Crying about this isn't going to save Sterling, so find something else to be outraged about.

I never said Indian Giver like a lot of kids did (this was back in the 70's) out of political correctness. I just didn't say it because it was DUMB! It never made any sense to me.

Gypped is a slur. Michelle said it. She gets away with it. I seriously doubt anyone else in her position, or of a lesser politically visible position, could without a **** storm descending on them.

People stopped using Indian Giver back in the late 70's, or so it seems. I haven't heard anyone say that since i was a small kid. All the kids said it back then.

Even then though, i didn't say that one. It just didn't make any sense even in the historical sense, and i didn't even know any history back then....it just SOUNDED dumb.

Indian Giver has understandably gone out of style, as more people come into contact with actual Indians, even aside from its somewhat insulting origin.
