Liberals won't be happy until they have driven all American companies overseas. The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the world, and its hurting our economy.

Even corporations in high-tax European countries such as Belgium (34 percent), France (34.4 percent), and Sweden (22 percent) face much lower rates than those in the United States. Our largest trading partners—Canada, Japan, and the United Kingdom—have each cut their corporate tax rates over the past few years to become more competitive.

Do conservatives actually think corporations don't use all the loopholes and lobbying to avoid paying this rate?

The average effective tax rate for corporations is 19%.

These 26 corporations paid no federal income tax.

Tell Fox News to go cry me a river.

The OP has a hard time differentiating effective tax, and the Tax Rate.

Seriously. if we had the highest effective tax rate companies would be paying more then the 9% of our federal taxes. (they used to pay far more as a % then they do now)

Yep. We owe our lives and the lives of our children to our GOP overlords. If only we could all be as hard working as them...

If any US corporation moves its corporate headquarters out of the US after making a bulk of it's profits in the US and taking advantage of US infrastructure and laws, the Congress should triple its taxes on US revenues. I have no patience for any US corporation that makes its profits from my money and then does everything to avoid paying its taxes. Conservatives may think it is patriotic to avoid paying taxes, they are wrong, it is idiotic.

i see no particular reason the US cannot tax corporations that operate here on their world wide income or profits. Have some fun arguments with our trading partners but we can compromise so that the corporate tax worldwide is basically uniform.

Then we can try an excess asset tax. Take 10% or so of worldwide holdings for any corporation that wants to sell in the US.

The issue that occurs is that more and more companies are becoming multinationals, and argue about double taxation-which CAN be an issue in some cases. Other times though they do it to avoid taxes, or manipulate it to pay no taxes. Heck some of them even get refunds!

Something to be said for gross income tax. Or a value added one.

those would be the classic defense against "no profit" corporations.
