22.8% with a bachelor's?

Isn't that at or above the national average?

Kind of weird to see that many folks with a bachelor's living in a small town with very high crime.

My guess is the numbers are slightly skewed by the fact that Ferguson is the corporate headquarters of Emerson Electric.

According to Wikipedia, the national average is 31.66% (Educational attainment in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). So pretty close to the national average, yes. However the crime rate in Ferguson is much higher than the national average at 381.1 per 100,000 versus 297.5 per 100,000 for the national average (http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime...-Missouri.html).

Actually, the graduation rate from Michael Brown's high school is 60%.

It's City Data School rating with 0 being the worst and 100 being the best is 1.

http://www.city-data.com/school/normandy-high-mo.html

Though I really don't have any idea what that has to do with the incident.

Ah, good theory.

Not familiar with the area. Still, seems like you'd move to a nicer area and commute. Maybe there are no "nicer" areas.

Normandy high school has had accreditation issues. I think they have worked the issues out with the state. Mc Cluer and Mc Cluer South are the other high schools that serves Ferguson.

Ferguson isn't a bad place to live.

Violent Crime Rate in Ferguson is 217.3 versus the national average of 214.0 (per 100,000)
But the property crime is far and away the worst of the crime in Ferguson (481.4 vs 266.5 nationally). Perhaps you call that trivial. For me, I think property crime is not a trivial thing. Property crime decreases home values and increases insurance rates. To take that a step further, by increasing insurance rates, including commercial property rates, it leads to less companies, less work, and less opportunities. So, if you think property crime is trivial, so be it. However, I am in favor of not making it harder for honest, law abiding people to find good jobs, good homes, and life in a safe place. Do you feel those issues are trivial?

And here i thought students and staff of Yale were suppose to be intelligent. There have been students and staff holding protests related to this incident, at Yale University. Goes to show you, being book smart does not mean one has common sense or decency. I was half tempted to go down there and question some of those morons on video. How the hell do you protest something and automatically assume guilt/murder when the investigation is still going on and we really don't know yet how the incident unfolded? One would think, the "best and brightest" would know better. And its even worse that staff are involved. Higher education....ha. My ass.
