Would you support an initiative by the people, from the people, to remove any politician from office who does not vote to de-militarize the Police??

This move would be non-partisan.

Yes, and not only the police, but all other non-military government organizations.

Interesting. Can't say that I disagree with you.

Maybe other initiatives could follow suit.

Yeah-and we should really make a serious effort to end the war on "drugs" immediately.

The war on "drugs" as well as the war on "terror" are needed to justify the militarization of the Police.
End the ongoing faux wars and our rights will start magically reappearing.

No. In view of Ferguson, MO and obvious lack of respect for law and order among the underclass we need the police to be able to face down violent crowds.

I voted yes, but it does require explanation on what you mean by "militization"

I believe we should have swat teams and riot police. I do not think we need tanks and assault rifles on the street as standard police gear.

Once you give up your rights you will NEVER get them back.
Has any part of the Patriot Act allowed to expire ?
The secret NSA court hearings are still going on even after the big outrage.
Snowden's revelations of what our government is doing barely registered with people.

And the Minerva Initiative has gotten funded each and every year.

It is the feds, read that the DOD that is folowing in the tradition of the old DCM which was the distributor of 'assault' weapons, for as low as $17, to the population to promote marksmanship.

As the DCM has been revamped and no longer sells US surplus firearms to the public, the DOD reaches out to the police. The feds support distribution of this military gear and then complain the cops use it.

Spend millions to discourage tobbacco use and subsidize the tobacco growers. Give aid the Hammas and condem Hammas. It is what the government does. Only the media can pressure the Government to at least act consistently. Without media the feds do what they want as if video and digital archives had not yet been invented.

It's one of the main things that these riots in Ferguson have taught us. Burning, Looting, Molotov cocktails, gun shots - it's not only insane, it's non stop. I think the police in St Louis have shown great restraint so far. This is far from over - what will these rioters do if they don't get the vengeance they want? More violence will come and it will spread.

The police use the tactical equipment to protect themselves - they are not using it on the crowds.
Tear gas, smoke bombs and sound bombs have been used for years - that's not "militarization".

Do we really want the police to just let these rampaging rioters and looters have free range to do whatever they want? I don't. I want public and private property protected.

You do understand Police were threatening to kill journalist don't you?

They arrested journalist who were just doing their duty. Shot journalist with rubber bullets. Tear gassed peaceful protesters.

We do have a military and national guard.
