People need to stop with the old way of thinking, the victim mentality, the "everyone's against us because we are black" and that kind of talk. You are right, and maybe the people who stand in the place of leadership - Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson Jr should be put out to pasture, they are of the old ways which worked ok back then, but it is not for a new day - today. New ways of thinking must be thought and acted on, not the old mentality.
The "new day" won't begin until we Boomers are dead. We--black and white--were born and raised in a segregated society, and Boomers (plus some War Generation) are still firmly in control of industry, finance, politics, and media. It's still the policies of people for whom segregation is "normal" that run the country.
If you're going to put Jackson and Sharpton out to pasture, you also have to put all their contemporaries who run the country out to pasture, because those are men whose policies control the nation.
With the growth in their population biracials will certainly continue to be the solution to the race problem in America. They have always been the first "blacks" to do mainstream things, including the incredible leap into the White house. All that's missing is that time when they start to call themselves what they are, biracials/mixed race/etc. , and leave the black tag to those of us who actually merit it (Africans).
There have been biracials in this country for hundreds of years. Everyone knows who they are. While it is true that they have always been at the forefront of change and advancement for Black Americans (more often or not because their connections to their whites have given them an advantage), to say they are going to solve the "race problem" in America is incredibly naive.
The black tag belongs to whoever says they merit it.

Back in the day even an "octoroon" was considered "Black" in the old Jim Crow states. In 2014; nope. Especially those who are def "anglo white" in looks AND claim "white" as their race.
Neither one of those threads promoted black separatism. Not even close.
okay keep telling yourself that. When you have the op of at least one of those threads wanting all black people to go live separate from all other skin colors, and to completely rule themselves, what would you call it?
I have a coworker who is Anglo white - red hair and freckles. She grew up in Cabrini chicago and is married to a Michael Clark Duncan look alike and her favorite artists are THE EMOTIONS and FRANKIE BEVERLY. If she could dance even a little she'd have to fill out black on her census.
Except since on the census one does not have to indicate only a single racial makeup anymore.

It was a joke lol she identifies as white but she definitely associates with "black" issues. She grew up in the worst housing projects in the country her husband and family are all black and her children are black.
