I think it kinda depends on two things

1) the legal British definition of treason and other like offenses

and

2) the importance of anything they might know and are willing to tell about the jihadis

As well as British public opinion and the returnees' propaganda value, if any

The real solution is figuring out the factors that led them to become Jihadists against their own country and solve the problem there...
