The Global warming moonbats have been told by the environmentalist wackos to ditch temperature calculations when talking about climate change because it's not working, because it isn't happening. See, but they're not gonna give up the movement. They toe the rope for everyone who's making the money because they want a part of it---they're complete charlatans and frauds!

And they said the target was out of line with recent trends. Temperatures have risen about 0.85 degree Celsius (1.5F) since about 1900 but have been virtually flat since about 1998 despite higher emissions from factories, power plants and cars.

They said that blood pressure, heart rate or body mass were all vital signs of health for a person, not just temperature. "A similar strategy is now needed for the planet," they wrote.
Uh oh. No temp rise since 1998, for SIXTEEN YEARS. DESPITE higher emissions!
People have been saying that on these forums and the armchair climatologists and CAGW cheerleaders have all contested it repeatedly. So are we still "deniers"?

One of the blasphemers has issued a response to the fatwa Joe Romm (and others) have placed on his head:

Getting Beyond the 2-Degree Threshold on Global Warming

Anyhow, score another goal for skeptics - he admits 2 degrees Celsius was a political and not a scientific determination.

The acolytes to the church of global warming will be in arm waving, mouth-foaming hysteria over this latest blasphemy to their teachings.

You act like this is the definitive and final rebuttal of all claims of global warming.

"Among objections, they said the goal was "effectively unachievable" because of rising greenhouse gas emissions, led in recent years by China's strong economic growth."

"The study urged a shift to other yardsticks to gauge the planet's health, such as concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere or changes in the heat content of the oceans."

Essentially all they said is measuring global air temperatures isn't the right way to fix the planet. They still admit global warming and rampant pollution is a problem.

From your link....

"Their arguments don't hold water," said Stefan Rahmstorf, a scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. And he said that 1998 was an exceptionally hot year, warmed by a powerful El Nino event in the Pacific Ocean. The period since then was not typical of long-term trends.

The panel says it is at least 95 percent probable that man-made greenhouse gas emissions, rather than natural swings in the climate system, are the main cause of global warming since 1950.

First of all, they can't fix squat because there is nothing to fix.

The earth heats and cools periodically.

Then the same scientists you were lauding as anti-green heroes two minutes ago are now in disagreement with you.

You are correct, they are warmanistas...

...and warmanistas (like Joe Romm) dismiss the "pause" by claiming surface temperatures are not the only metric.

So... Why are demagogues like Joe Romm now fighting to save the 2 degree (political) yardstick?????

That's probably because their main argument was that the 2C task was unfeasible, as in it is too hard to achieve.

Those who think otherwise want to try and keep the limit.
