"Sterilizing Ebola waste before it is transported is important not only to protect waste haulers but to guard against someone using the waste "for nefarious purposes," said Sean Kaufman, president of Behavioral-Based Improvement Solutions, an Atlanta-based biosafety firm. "It's not just a safety issue," he said."
They need to be hospital in-house, and proximate the patient area, so that there would be no transport infections.
There is also a need for improved HANDLING of materials from the patient to the incinerator.
Where I used to work, there was an autoclave proximate the lab that could be entered from a sealed door from the lab area. The wastes were autoclaved BEFORE transport through common areas leading to the incinerator.
The local and national female liberals insisted that the wastes not be incinerated, or otherwise, rather that they should be put into the local landfill instead.
Female liberals don't believe in burning medical wastes, if they are in a plastic bag.
The politically correct female liberals want to create a reservoir of infection in an area where the water table is high.
The feds actually caved in to the politically correct female liberals.
"In 1991 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began a massive reassessment of the presence of dioxin in the environment and identified medical waste incinerators as the primary source of dioxins, which are chemical compounds known to cause a broad spectrum of adverse health effects in humans. Medical waste incineration commonly involves the burning of plastics used in research, which then release large quantities of dioxins into the atmosphere."
"In the United States, more than 5,000 medical waste incinerators were in operation in the mid 1990s. Today, fewer than 60 medical waste incinerators remain in the U.S., due to community pressure, stricter pollution-control regulations, and activist groups such as Health Care Without Harm."
I'm not sure everyone understands the almost total control that the Federal Government has on this issue.
The apartment of Patient Zero could not even be cleaned and decontaminated without Federal Permits. The Waste could not be transported without Federal Permits from the Department of Transportation. The testing for Ebola in Dallas in done in Austin, TX by mandate of the CDC -- think about that -- they can't even do the blood test for Ebola in the City or Hospital where they are having outbreaks.
County Health Director, Zachary Thompson told commissioners the CDC is considering approving the Dallas county lab to conduct testing for Ebola. Thompson said that would produce quicker results and save county staff time from driving down to Austin to have a lab there conduct the tests.
The CDC is "considering" approval for testing equipment in Dallas? Are you kidding me! They are Control Freaks with so much Red Tape to fight your way out of - no wonder they have a crisis they can't readily control now.
It's all about "manage the Crisis", "manage the News Cycle".
The CDC might not identify the breach of protocol, but this nurses' union has done that for them: there was no real protocol:
The nurses were picketing a few weeks ago on the media protesting they were NOT PREPARED to treat Ebola patients. Apparently the CDC and our government tuned them out.
That's what I've been thinking. There's no actual protocol. They're developing it as they go along!
We're just beginning to learn that they aren't equipped to handle this. The longer the CDC keeps saying there's no reason to fear, the less believable it becomes.
If Ebola is easy to manage, how'd these "experts" get it?
I think it's much more contagious than first believed and health care workers are at a high risk. We have workers infected and quarantined after one patient. Now imagine if there were ten, or twenty. Our emergency systems are already busting at the seams.
The first patient treated for Ebola in the US arrived at Emroy University on 8/2/14, ( 6 days before WHO announced a global epidemic).
“It doesn’t matter how much you plan,” Dr. Bruce Ribner, an infectious disease specialist who directed the patients’ care, said in an interview. “You’re going to be wrong half the time.”
There are some people who want to control the population and welcome plagues.. to kill off some of the population.
I remember the fellow who contributed to the rules Obamacare. His statement is that those who are over 70 years old are a burden to their families and their government. There are some people who want a decrease in population. They welcome it.

Until they reach that age.
