Biden's son discharged from Navy after drug test - CNN.com

Joe Biden's son, who is in his 40s, was discharged from the Naval Reserves. He showed up for reserve duty and submitted to a drug test. His test came back positive for cocaine. Not very smart for a lawyer who is the son of a national politician. You're a man in your 40s, you're a lawyer, you're a managing partner at a law firm, you're father is in national politics, and you're an officer in the Naval Reserves. You should know better than to use cocaine. Even worse, you used cocaine within enough time before reporting to reserve duty to pop positive for cocaine. Cocaine flushes through your system pretty quick, especially when compared to pot. I have a feeling he didn't really want to remain in the Naval reserves or he's such an addict that he didn't care anymore.

Do I think this deserves regular coverage like the Bush twins underage drinking received, no and I don't think their underage drinking should have gotten so much coverage either. Teenagers regularly do underage drinking. Their getting caught is a news story, but not that much coverage. In this case, this is a man in his 40s, managing partner at a law firm, and an officer in the Naval Reserve. This isn't a case of teenagers partying like teenagers do.

"Hey, you can't test me!"

"Do you know who I am!"

Biden's son isn't in public office. The media needs to lay off family members of political office holders, in my opinion. Family members of politicians weren't elected, don't seek media attention, and should be allowed private lives.

BS he was afforded a wavier to join the Navy Reserve after age 40 just because his daddy is VP. Then he was given some BS staff job.

Care to guess why? Yeah thats right to pad his resume when running for political office in the future.

Opps guess that didnt go as planned.

It is worse than Bush's daughters case. Here you have an educated adult that knows everything and certainly estimated the possible consequences. You expect more from such people. If he has a drug problem, he should have gone
into rehab, well before being "caught". Its basic decency.

Hmmm, second thread on the same topic, I believe the first one was closed for some reason, don't expect this one to last much longer.

CNN making hay of this one. It's a family matter, not a political one and frankly falls into the slumming category to me...I think politicians should start talking about CNN's employee's who have family members in rehab's,mental hospitals and Attention deficit disorders...Quid Pro Quo. But then again they sure enough got in Paulins family and no one was bitchin bout that....
