Hispanics are also concerned about the welfare state and want an expansion of it since they are disproportionately in the poorer economic classes. Since the Republicans are opposed to any expansion of the welfare state, they are ignoring a major concern that Hispanics have. While I don't think the Republicans are under any obligation to change its position on the welfare state, they are going to have to present a viable alternative to assuage Hispanic concerns about the welfare state but so far they haven't. Hispanics also support Affirmative Action which is something that the Republicans are adamantly opposed to and the same argument I presented about the welfare state applies here as well.
Telling the truth about lawbreakers is not bashing. Besides, why do Hispanics care about illegal aliens? Aren't they as citizens just as obligated as the rest of us to respect our immigration laws and put the best interests of this country first? Why shouldn't we vie for diversity in our legal immigration quotas? Why should Hispanics get a bigger piece of the pie? Are you not aware that even without illegal immigration in their group that they already hold the highest quotas for legal immigration into our country? Is that not enough for them?

Why does being white make one look racist? What is racist about wanting our immigration laws respected and enforced? Are you not aware that most Hispanics are half white themselves?

Why would any ethnic group in this country want welfare expanded? Aren't we broke enough and in debt enough? Are you saying that Hispanics are big welfare users? AA has long lost its point and usefulness and it usually applies to blacks not Hispanics anyway.

A more streamlined immigration process for those that want to come coupled with amnesty for those who have been here for (X) amount of years so long as they have no criminal record and begin to pay taxes helps everyone. It creates more tax revenue, brings people out of the shadows, and stops/slows illegal immigration...assuming the first half of the equation is accomplished.

And you can't ignore Hispanic voters and their issues...they are the largest growing demographic...so the GOP would be wise to open up to dialogue on this issue. Many GOP members already have.

I like Ann Coulter but she is wrong about the politics. Repubs have no other choice than to go after Hispanics & Asians. I don't think blacks will forgive them for being the party that freed them (ironic no?) so they can forget about the blacks for the most part. Jews aren't a big enough voting block but they have money so I think Repubs should at least make the effort to woo them.

Tho knowing places like India; IF they had a bad disaster, they'd STILL have their hand out to the US. That's the way they roll.
Since the US has to keep up its soft power to be a superpower, they have to give off an image of being a racially and culturally tolerant society. The politicians and the businessmen really don't care if the majority of the population of the US changes to that of the new immigrants since they will still be in charge and making a lot of money. They have been spending a lot of money though on propaganda to try to convince Americans why immigration is necessary but it doesn't seem to be as effective as it used to be. I don't disagree with you about restricting immigration but I am giving you the harsh reality and the uphill battle the immigration reductionists face in changing the laws. The harsh reality is immigration is something that is outside of the hands of the voters and is more or less dictated by powerful interests and also foreign countries.

It's immigration. The issue remains the single most important issue to Latino voters as a whole, and the single greatest barrier to Republican inroads into the bloc.

Is the Latino vote up for grabs? Stanford pollster says no

Poll: Immigration splits Americans

If these aren't convincing enough for you then ask where their largest advocacy group the NCLR stands on illegal immigration and how they would prioritize it as an issue.

Things go in waves. 1920 saw immigration pretty much stopped. By the 1950's the racist ban on Asians as ended, which was the right thing to do but, immigration was still under tight control. 1965 was things opened up again. It's def time to close and lock things down again.
