From the NYTimes http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=LEw...X2LxWrT0p.8qQ:

"No one knows if the Obama administration will manage in the next five weeks to strike what many in the White House consider the most important foreign policy deal of his presidency: an accord with Iran that would forestall its ability to make a nuclear weapon. But the White House has made one significant decision: If agreement is reached, President Obama will do everything in his power to avoid letting Congress vote on it."

".....The Treasury Department, in a detailed study it declined to make public, has concluded Mr. Obama has the authority to suspend the vast majority of those sanctions without seeking a vote by Congress, officials say. “We wouldn’t seek congressional legislation in any comprehensive agreement for years,” one senior official said."

Does anyone still believe Obama doesn't consider himself the Imperial President or embraces our country's LAW of separation of powers?

If he has the authority, then what LAW requires him to get the Congress involved?

Because our Sunni "friends" who are just as bad if not worse when it comes to sponsoring terrorism and religious extremism see them as a threat to the regional power balance. Oh, and racism; not on our part, but guess what the Persian Gulf is called in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Normalizing relations with Iran would be huge.

Good question!

Which I'd bet dollars to donuts will receive no answer.

Facts are optional in the daily "Obama " whine.

I'm sure OP will be here any minute to explain why foreign policy decisions are outside of the Executive's authority. Any minute now...

Did you read the Times article I linked? Lots of answers to some of the questions posed here.

Obama doesn't have the authority to end the sanctions, says the NYTimes.

"Mr. Obama cannot permanently terminate those sanctions. Only Congress can take that step. And even if Democrats held on to the Senate next month, Mr. Obama’s advisers have concluded they would probably lose such a vote."

Thus, the potential bypass of even Democrat's wishes.
