If I could pass a full background check for a Top Secret Clearance, I should be good to go.
But still, NO I would not run for National Office.
County Commissioner, maybe.

For me, too many skeletons. Nothing that would be a big deal to me, but way too much fodder.

This. Since I couldn't run as a Democrat, my skeletons would be liabilities, not assets. Only Democrats get cred from negative events in their past.

Plus, to get my brand of libertarianism in action, I'd have to lie through my teeth while running as Republican, or I'd have to tell the truth while campaigning and stand no shot whatsoever at getting elected.

No.

Way too many crazy relatives that would be falling all over themselves to get their psycho mugs in the media.

If I ever wanted to do so (which would be ... NEVER) I would most likely take the Eminem/8 Mile approach and out every "secret" and family loon when I announced my intention to run and cut naysayers off at the pass.

But it won't happen.

When I was a kid, I thought about going into politics (I was a weird kid). I decided around middle school that I valued my privacy and my personal relationships too much to do that.

Now I'm pretty much the opposite of electable. Ah well.
