I'm old so I've been around though many elections. It seems to me that everytime Republicans win something, the talk is all about (pick one) compromise, bipartisanship, aisle-crossing (not the same as cross-dressing) and not about, as President Obama says, "Elections have consequences and I won." The Democrats didn't even bother with bringing up House bills for debate, never mind voting, when they ruled the Senate. They met in closed door meetings.

Well I, for one, didn't vote for the Republicans to make some half-assed luke warm deals and I don't give a flying fig about what the whiny media says about time to hold hands and sing Kumbaya with the President and the remaining Democrats on the Hill. Pass the bills you want, get in front of a microphone and tell the people about them, let the public know who voted against them and let Obama veto them, especially the job focused ones.

How about you, Republican voters? Did you vote for compromise?

No, I did not vote for compromise. I voted to put a brake on President Obama's overreach. If the Republicans don't make a serious effort to do that I hope they get voted out in the next cycle.

Medicare Part D was Republican. Bush buying the old man vote. And boy the old guys suck it up. Then scream socialism for anyone else that's not them.

I want the country to see old people for what they really are. Selfish people who are only to happy to receive benefits themselves but call everyone else socialists. Medicare Part D needs to end.

Clearly, you are in the minority. Again, refer to the most recent election results.....

So you do not have a problem with Medicare as it was originally proposed by President Johnson? It was flawed from the beginning, Part D just made it worse.

Kill it. Kill it all now. Kill Medicare and Medicare Part D. Put everyone on the same playing field. Why should older voters receiving health care be able to vote away the benefits of those younger than they are? Kill those programs too.

Correct. And if they were forced to pay into it, then they should get back what they paid for. But instead, we will give free bennies to illegals who have no intention of becoming citizens, or people who are able bodied, but won't get off of their a**es to do an honest day's work!

BTW since there are posts on this thread in regards to the disdain for old people receiving SS and Medicare that they paid into, is this yet another "liberal war?" The war on old people?

I am not so sure ACA will be changed much.

You can't unring a bell.

If we make sure the country sees old people as the benefit recipients they are over the next two years, maybe things will change. As we know, the 2014 midterms skewed very old. Presidential elections get a much broader turnout. Voters of all ages need to see what older voters really are about. People all to happy to receive the benefits (and with Medicare Part D, FREE BENEFITS) while calling everyone that's not themselves, "takers".
