In most other first world countries the rich states or provinces vote conservative and the poorer states and provinces vote left wing. In America it seems backwards where the poor states such as Alabama Mississippi and South Carolina vote conservative and rich states such as Massachusetts Connecticut and Maryland vote liberal. Is America the only country where regions tend to vote the opposite of their income bracket?

Why do all poor have to vote Dem ?

There's more to living in the US then standing in line getting welfare benefits.

You sir or mam seem like a low information voter. Just because someone is poor doesn't mean they will vote for socialism.

Several prominent conservatives came from nothing. Without a good business climate and capitalism, you couldn't increase your lot in life.

Or you could vote for lifetime sustenance benefits and become an effective serf for the socialists.

I love seeing an old busted up car with a Romney/Ryan bumper sticker on it.

The reason the liberal's are "rich" is because their the ones with their hands in everybody else's pocket. If they had to earn the money from the sweat of their brow like the poor states... they'd find themselves in the poor-house too. Have you ever seen a liberal who actually didn't like taking from 1 to give to another? They just make sure their the middle man who gets a piece of the pie.

First, regions don't vote, individuals do. There are poor that vote left and poor that vote right, just as there are rich and middle class that cote left and that vote right. There are a lot of reasons people vote the way they do and there are a lot of issues involved. It seems that the people that frequently want to say, "they aren't all....." sure likes to put people in neat little boxes, which really seems surprising for the self-proclaimed flexible thinkers.

Actually some of the poorest areas of the delta (Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana) as well as Alabama are mostly reliable blue voters.
