The can hardly blame them is an attempt to understand them by inferring that times are tough, do you blame people for turning to crime? It's not hard to decipher.
While I suspect its a satirical story, I can't believe you don't get what he's saying.
The only possible way that you don't is because you have such a black and white outlook with a strict and ridiculous moral code that sees explanations and any empathizing as "making up excuses".
I see it for what it is. It's outrageous propaganda that's aimed at promoting self-hatred. It makes me sick that anyone could possibly think this way. But it's exactly the agenda the mainstream media and the communist "higher education" system pushes. Of course it seems ridiculous now. But this is how their agenda works. Open up a "discussion" on the merits of this topic, and gradually start promoting it in the media and at left-wing schools. It's a form of cultural marxism and there are plenty of ways we've been socially engineered by cultural marxists who are in positions of power in the media and in academia.

I tried to read your article and actually got about half way down the page before I couldn't read it anymore. Biggest crock of horse sh*t I've read today, and I've read some pretty stupid crap. Not even worthy of discussion or debate, and I'll PM you my home address so you can send me money 'cause I'm poor and down on my luck and you know.......could really use some of yours. I only blame them if they commit crimes against those who believe they deserve to be left alone.
If they commit crimes against those more enlightened folks "who empathize and understand", I'm okay with that.
