Buying a gun is not like buying a purse.

1) Her husband should have understood this and had the gun unloaded and secured until she learned proper techniques for handling a gun

2) Never wave a loaded gun around as a joke

3) Always assume any gun is loaded when you pick it up and properly remove ammo

I learned all of these things before I was 10 years old. Never shot myself.

Play stupid games , win stupid prizes. And it should read "negligent" , not "accidental" discharge.

Some people really have no respect for the lethality.

An ex-GF wanted to see my gun, I emptied it and started to explain how to handle it as she started waving it around making childish shooting sounds. I took it back and never let her touch it again.

Sounds like the woman in the article had the same misunderstanding of what she was holding in her hand.

One of the biggest problems in America today is that men no longer do a good job supervising and controlling the women they own.
