Not just a third party – but an EFFECTIVE third party.
Not just a well-thought-out-piece on the current Congress but how we got here in the first place.

So, just how do we get a viable third party? We have to start at the roots – local municipal and county governments. If we get enough of those, it will makes its way up to the states and then Congress...maybe)))

That article was absolutely trash, and so is that website.
They're Nazis.

The best third party is here:

Until the electoral system changes, we are going to be a two-party nation.

a third party sounds nice, the problem is that when a third party is created, if the party is effective it morphs into the opposition party of the other major effective party. for instance when the republican was created it WAS the third party, and it took over for the whig party which then was tossed onto the ash heap of history.

so go ahead and form your third party, and make it a good one. just remember that it needs to be different than both current major parties, and it needs candidates that are still mainstream and effective. this is one big reason why third parties are generally small and ineffective. their candidates are not mainstream. they are usually very radical in their thinking.

What do you actually want in a third party?

Very true. Come election time the media only focuses on the two parties so that doesn't help the situation as well.

We're stuck with two parties until we get rid of first to the post voting. Instant runoff vote would be a good start but that will likely never happen.

Does anyone ever wonder why the US has always instituted a parliamentary system whenever building a new government for a defeated country? Secretly, we all know that first to the post voting and direct elections of an Executive ultimately disenfranchises the views of most of the population.

The Green Party, and the Libertarian Party are political parties, the TEA party is a political movement, not a political party. It's like Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, or the environmental movement, these are built on desires to see change and ideas on how to arrive at that change.

MADD is about increasing responsibility among drivers, the environmentalists want people to be more responsible in taking care of our air, soil, water and wildlife, and the TEA party movement is asking for more responsibility in our government's spending of tax dollars, protection of our rights and freedoms, essentially, holding politicians accountable to their oaths of office.

The only party close to being divided and looking for a third party is the Republican Party.

I don't hear any rumblings in the Democrat Party about splitting up or going in a different direction.

The numerous 3rd parties we have now are just that numerous and small.

I suppose a third party that could come into existence would be a party that takes some of the ideas of both parties and incorporates them and rejects other ideas from both parties..:

Example:

"Third Party" platform:

Against immigration.
For welfare for people down on their luck.

Support Roe v Wade.
Against Obamacare.

For the Second Amendment.
For legalization of drugs.

Etc...you get the picture.
