We also knew that Christmas Day 2014 was a Thursday but for some reason Tyson thought we needed to be reminded of this and further that we didn't know Jews and Muslims didn't celebrate Christmas.
Why make any reference to Christmas at all, then? Everyone knows December 25 is Christmas, after all.
Or atheist leftists who are so offended that someone was offended.
You can't be offended by someone being offended. That doesn't even make sense.
I also have yet to see anyone on Tyson's side being offended. Disgusted, yes. I am appalled at the complete lack of Christ like behavior many Christians exhibit. If people want to hate Tyson for 'being offensive,' they can. I just find it pathetic, and from what I know of the Bible, so does Jesus.

What insults? Are you referring to the tweets? Those were insulting? And you wonder why those opposing you are amused. If your offended that people don't all celebrate your holiday or worship your idea of what god is, that's a sign that you don't fully understand your faith because it is clearly very fragile. I've said that numerous times already of course, and it's been routinely ignored.

Then why did you need Neil DeGrasse Tyson to remind you of this?
I assume you have the same distaste for Christian evangelists? After all, everyone (here in the US) knows who Jesus is and has a pretty good idea of what he stands for. Why would an Evangelist say something that everyone already knows? Just to offend people?
Since you obviously don't have the same distaste, I'll leave you to think about that. Rather or not you actually choose to think is on you.
I didn't even see that tweet until the poutrage thread that was started here. I don't even have a twitter account to have seen the original tweets. I saw the Newton quote on my FB feed.
AGAIN. Can you explain how his tweets are ridiculing Christians?
He was cheapening the holiest day of the year for us by saying its only Thursday. It's akin to saying Christ was just another baby. He certainly was just another baby to many people but to us he wasn't, to us he is the savior (Feel free to chuckle at my ridiculous religiosity).
Christians sure have thin skins to let these two Tweets anger them.
So what? I am a Christian and I don't appreciate anyone mocking my faith. I don't go mocking other faiths. I get that Neil DeGrasse Tyson is agnostic. Fine. However, I lost all respect for him when he mocked my faith. It was choose him, or my faith. I choose my faith. Thin skinned? Yes. So what?

Christmas is a massively marketed and commercialized holiday. If you live in the US, you are going to be reminded that it's Christmas everyday for at least a month before Christmas. It's crammed down everyone's throats. But here's the beauty of this; a lot of people don't care at all! How rare is it to see a Jew or a Muslim get really upset that people are always talking about Christmas. I honesty can't think of a time when that happened.
But here's where it gets interesting. Had Tyson said 'what is Hanuka to Christians and Muslims: another week,' would there be outrage? No. With the exception of maybe a few, almost no one, including you, would give a damn that he said that. Why? Because it's true. You don't care about Hanuka. You went about your week without once considering that it was an important time for a lot of people.
So please drop this obviously fake charade of defending the oppressed. You're only upset because someone dared poke fun at your faith, which has for centuries gone unquestioned simply because it was the majority. This is just a selfish moan fest for you and we all can see that. It's very obvious.
The simple truth is, none of what Tyson said actually hurts you. Being a Christian in America, you live a relatively comfortable life with few struggles. You're faith is never putting your life in danger. But there are people in the world who do risk their life holding on to their faith. If you cared so much, you'd have flown a plane to the Middle East and would be rescuing Christian refugees from their oppressors. But you don't. Instead, to feel like your serving your lord, who you likely only think about Sunday morning, when someone asks you about or when there's nothing good on TV, you invent a problem by acting like Tyson is some tyrant out to destroy the Christian faith when you probably rarely think about the people who are killing Christians on a day to day basis. So please, drop it.

BINGO! Dusty got BINGO!
Tyson was acting out of frustration that Christmas is everywhere and decided it was his place to tell Christians to get over themselves.
Well done Dusty!
BTW, if he said the same thing about Hannukah, I most definitely would have considered him a turd for saying so. It's called having respect for the institutions and faiths of others.

My word, many people don't think/believe what I think/believe. Doesn't affect how I value what I think/believe.
Are you really the kind of person who needs everyone to agree with you in order to feel OK? My condolences.
If you don't like what he thinks or how he expresses himself, that's fine, but you just make yourself look silly when you call him a pseudo intellectual. There's nothing pseudo at all about his intellectual credentials.
