I don't think it's a joke at all. I think it's tragic. What I also think is tragic that immediately the same usual suspects on here & what I see on FB turn this into 1 of 3 things: GUNS! THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN IF THEY HAD GUNS!!! or MUSLIMS WANT TO KILL EVERYONE!!!! ALL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL!!!! or SHARIA LAW IS HERE, MARK MY WORDS!!!!! So pathetic. I don't know how these people even function in life.

There is nothing wrong with a door to door search. The problem is demanding to be let in without permission or a warrant.
Which we can only assume that is what is being talked about because it's pretty vague and without links. And not knowing what French laws are maybe irrelevant.

European countries tend to have internal security measures that would make Americans faint in shock. Extremely militarized police (the French Gendarmerie has armored vehicles with 90mm cannons, paratroopers, and mortars), compulsory national ID cards, etc are normal in much of Europe.
