I don't get it, if Israeli wants peace, as they claim, why do they continue to build settlements which the international community (except the USA government under occupation of AIPAC) condemn?
It doesn't make sense, if a people want peace why do they continue to take land from those they occupy?
They don't want peace. They want the Palestinians to capitulate and become part of their society. They have no real desire to give them what they want.

Not true, they don't want Palestinians to become part of their society, they want them to live in Bantoustans , like during apartheid South Africa, Israel is actually implementing an apartheid system worse than the South African system.
The settlements are quite controversial in Israeli politics. Many moderates want nothing to do with them or Ultra Orthodox Jews who don't pull their weight and serve in the military.
Which brings us to another question - exactly what have Palestinians ever done to bring peace? '67 borders are indefensible and aren't ever going to happen. Some might argue that there are no such thing as 1967 borders, only 1948 armistice lines with Trans Jordan.
So one side builds homes while the other side bombs. Yep, those evil home builders are war mongers (sarcasm). Those people who strap bombs to mentally disabled children, blow up a children's toy store, bus stops, fire rockets at schools, hide rocket launchers near public buildings, and store munitions in schools built by the UN are just peaceful people.
If I understand the controversy, it goes something like this:
Doofus European Jews, funded by widespread drives, buy some crappy land sold by crafty Locals. City boys and girls, with hard work and scientific methods, turn around and transform that crappy land into some of the most productive farmland in the Middle East. Sellers are embarrassed / remorseful.
Along comes the golden opportunity. The British are about to leave and transfer administration to the two power blocs - Jews and Muslims. The Jews promise peace and justice, etc. While all the Islamic neighbors plan to exterminate the Jews. The neighboring countries give a "friendly" warning to fellow Muslims to "get out of the way," and not to defend their lands against fellow Muslim invaders / liberators. Everyone assumes that Israel will fall, and so the Palestinian Muslims abandon their properties ahead of the fireworks.
But Israel prevails. D'oh. Plan backfires.
This is compounding the insult upon Islam - not only are they shown up to be lousy incompetent farmers, now they're shown up as lousy incompetent fighters.
Much loss of face.
Unacceptable insult to Islam.
To compound the situation, the refugees are unwilling to return and swear allegiance to the victorious Israeli government, and instead adopt the mantra, that Israel must be exterminated, lest she shows up Islam even more.
This is acceptable to the rest of Islam, and thus we come to the present.

Why must certain lands be Jew free? Might as well ask, "why do blacks claim they want peace while they keep moving into white areas?"
Besides, It's ISRAEL'S land. The Palestinians belong in Jordan.

Would any of that occur if they were not under Israeli occupation?
Would any of that occur if they were not fighting back against Israeli's bombing small children and hospitals and schools and every part of Palestinian life? Why is it ok when Israel bombs children with the latest technology? Why do you think that is ok 'victimofgm'?
