Being a liberal or being a conservative does not make you intelligent or unintelligent. It varies. There are liberal that are way smarter than some conservative, and vice versa. There are stupid people on both sides who will attach themselves to the ideology they are most familiar with and not feel the need to think about why the vote the way they do. These people are less intelligent.
Coincidentally, they are also probably happier. Ignorance is bliss comes to mind. It's a true statement. Smarter people are often more miserable, for a variety of reasons. Not all of them though. Plenty of smart people are quite happy, especially if they find themselves among like minded and equally intelligent people.
As I've siad multiple times already, this happier nonsense is pointless. Conservative are less likely to be poor, and this will make them happier. More liberals are poor, which brings down the liberal average for happiness. If the demographics were taken from people of relatively equal social status, the results may actually be worth discussing. But as they are, they mean nothing concrete.
Wow, a hat trick of proving my point that conservatives just don't give a crap about anybody but their own!!
Wow...just wow! No hat trick here at all. Just you twisting words to suit your agenda. Where did I say I only care about "conservatives"? Nowhere did I say that. I said that "charity starts at home". All those American workers that Gates screwed over are liberals, moderates and conservatives. And guess what? I care about them all regardless of their political affiliation, despite what you so desperately want to believe.
I do believe the premise that Conservatives are generally happier than Liberals that I have met in my life. IMO, Liberals spend their time hating Conservatives and hate doesn't make one happy.

Hating Obama and/or gays seems to make some Conservatives happy.
Not saying you have enmity toward one or the other. Oh wait ….

I don't have enmity for gays...I want everyone to fulfill their personal dreams and be happy and supported our state legalizing gay marriage.
I don't really have enmity for Obama but when I hear what he said at the National Prayer breakfast, I realized that he hates Christians. he doesn't hate those people chopping people's heads off, burning people alive, raping young girls. He hates Christians because 900 years ago when the Muslims came to chop their head off, the Christians stopped them...which is what he learned in Muslim school when he was a kid.

OK then! If you stop right there, I'm a happy Liberal with whom you have enough in common that I think we could have a nice chat over a cuppa. I live in an ultra-conservative community and most of my in-laws are conservative, I love them all and they love me, no hate coming from this Leftie.
I'm also a Christian who admires our Christian President and loves my Muslim co-workers and friends.

14 pages in and no one read the definitions in these studies

A quick note on terminology here: These are psychological terms, not political ones. They don’t overlap perfectly with our definitions of conservative and liberal. In a nutshell, right-wing authoritarianism involves submission to authority and tradition -- generally conservative values. “Social dominance orientation” describes a willingness to support the current social hierarchy; in practical political terms, we’re talking positions like opposition to affirmative action and support for stricter immigration policies.
Further more, all these studies seem to be self identifying.
Im sorry, but you arent happy just because you claim to be. I have seen people go through hell, cry themselves to sleep and then say "ive still got Jesus". Thats not happy no matter how you try to spin it, but i bet if asked in a survey, they would say they were.
Exactly^^^. We don't get our panties in a wad over stupid sh*t, we don't get offended at perceived insults and we know how to adapt when things don't go our way.
Fox News didn't get their panties in a wad over Obama putting spicy mustard on his hamburger?
