I wish Cruz thought about all the Americans out there that didn't have healthcare at all to begin with, especially those with per-existing conditions.

what i would have appreciated was for the democrats and mr bammer to have thought about those who HAD insurance back when ACA was passed and worked very hard not to HARM THEM... then work toward adding those without insurance to the list of those who did....

what we got was trading one group suffering from government over reach for another group suffering from government over reach...

Yes they did----Mittens and massachusetts, and tort reform.

But take note how Cruz obeys the law, even when he is not a big fan of it, unlike Barack Obama.
He should have just gone without health insurance, just as he was perfectly content to see many other Americans do without it. What a perfect opportunity this was to show Americans that he truly is a man who stands on his principles, even when doing so might be detrimental to him personally.

But Teddy is smart enough to know that it's risky to go without health insurance. It's easy to have principles when the risk is all on other people. But if it's him who is at risk, well, then, all those lofty principles go out the window.

What a guy.

That is a very generous attitude on your part but most people don't want either party ramming something through without a majority of America's support. Which the Democrats did not have btw.

I would agree with Mittens and Massachusetts. Romney, Newt and the GOP gang said numerous times that Mitt's plan was the GOP answer to health care. Except when Romney had the chance to sell it, he didn't. And when Obama made it happen, they made poor ole' Mitt disavow it. Too funny.

As for tort reform, many states have it now, including Texas. Guess how much that reduced health costs? None. The insurance companies kept the money for themselves. And Texas has one of the highest rates of uninsured in the country. So much for tort reform.

I don't think it creates a contradiction. Don't they (Senators) all use the exchange? Paying the penalty in order to protest ACA would make him look silly, so this is actually an indication that he could be a reasonable person.

In a sane world, the act of Mr. Cruz taking advantage of a law he actually shut the government down trying to kill (to the tune of $24 billion taxpayer dollars) would have the rightwingers abandoning his bid for the Oval Office in droves.

But Rightwing Land is anything but sane, as his defenders in this thread prove.

You can't make up the level of inanity displayed by the right. It simply defies belief.

Businesses all across the country struggle to provide health insurance to their employees.

So when businesses start to offset their employee healthcare costs onto ACA, which is indeed projected to take place, I dont want to hear liberals moaning.

Wal Mart, yep.. move all your employees to Obamacare to be picked up by the taxpayers so you can improve your bottom line. Liberals will love you for it.

Oh just stop.. shutting down the government did not cost $24 billion dollars. The $24 billion was the calculations involved with keeping some of the departments open that would have stayed open regardless.
