arpaio has already confessed to civil contempt of court, this hearing is to determine if there is evidence for a criminal hearing ( at this point it seems guaranteed ).
joe has successfully cultivated the image of "america's toughest sheriff" but his antics have not shown results ( his prison's recidivism rate and MCC crime rate is on par with the rest of AZ ), he's cost the maricopa county tax payer's 10's of millions in lost court cases, he's illegally used his position to try and intimidate critics and he was gullible enough to fall for the scam of a known con-man ( to the tune of possibly $1million to the tax payer ) in a possible attempt to dig up dirt on a federal judge that was overseeing a court case against him!!! not characteristics i'd apply to "a true American hero".

if joe sees any jail time for this it will be in federal prison, not county. no hope for the beautiful irony of joe in his own pink panties.
