They had the guns illegally, did they not? Sounds like this mayor should be removed from office for gross stupidity and general idiocy. That's like saying too many legal drivers on the road leads to illegal drivers causing accidents and all drivers should be banned.

Since open carry is allowed it's tough to distinguish the criminals, you could assume someone is up to no good if they had a handgun in the past.

If we were to apply that to every politician in office the White House would be empty, as would 3/4 of congress. Though I agree. Once again our CRIMINAL JUSTICE system failed, same as happened in my neighborhood last week. All those cops were killed by multi-time felons, passed through our revolving door justice system and put back on the streets. The one that bears the blame is the judge and/or parole board who let these animals out of prison.

Correct. Now if we can apply that to all people in elected offices, of-course we would have to replace 95% of those in office with a completely new batch of idiots.

Sadly parole boards often are under pressure to get prisoners out of the prison as soon as possible to open up space for more criminals. The problem is too many small time criminals, white collar criminals and drug related criminals in the prisons so violent and career criminals are released early and of-course too few prisons. Every supports building more prisons just not in their backyard and not with too much of their money. The solution is to reform the system so we find alternative punishments for the above low level non-violent criminals and then put the really bad ones in prison for their full and long sentences.

These two do what they did no matter what laws are passed or not passed.

But Dupree is exceedingly wrong in politicizing the deaths of officers Deen and Tate by suggesting these laws had anything to do with the deaths of officers Deen and Tate. Two suspects arrested in the officers’ deaths–Marvin and Curtis Banks–are felons and therefore barred from gun possession, period. They cannot possess or carry in any way.

The concealed carry laws in Mississippi apply to law-abiding citizens and were relaxed to help Mississippians more easily carry for self-defense because criminals–including felons–continue to possess and carry guns, laws be damned.

These two felons were prohibited from owning a firearm.
Blaming a law, that these two broke anyway, is especially stupid.
