There is a lot of talk about "equal pay" on a gender basis and now women can serve in combat units in the military. Hillary Clinton wants to be elected commander in chief of our armed forces, yet she has never served a day in the military. It is true that she can't be called a draft dodger(like her husband) since women were not subject to the draft, but nothing prevented her from volunteering for military service during the Vietnam War. Why should we put her in charge of all U.S. servicemen and servicewomen when she wouldn't take the initiative to serve herself?

I do not see how a brief stint in the military as a junior EM or Officer is a prerequisite for much later in life being able to commandf Generals. Do you?

Good point. President Lyndon Johnson was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves and arguably made a mistake by allowing the Vietnam War to be micromanaged from the Pentagon instead of letting the generals "in country" make the decisions.

And Jimmy Carter was a nuclear submarine engineer and had a weak Presidency.

We could on back and forth with in the aggregrate jumior military service meaning nothing because in modern times only one Senior military commander became President.

If you know anything about leadership it is the ability to pick good subordinates that matters because one person cannot do it all. You find that ability in numerous other professions.

Weak argument you have there.

Yes. I am a non-partisan independent. I despise both parties. I believe that the commander in chief should be a veteran.

Having been in many leadership positions, I know all about delegating. Thank you for your spot on, but unnecessary lecture. It doesn't erase the fact that before a commander in chief sends soldiers into harms way they ought to know something about what it is like. Hillary doesn't, but she could have.
