So being drafted into the military is being drafted into slavery? I think your idea of slavery needs some work.
its no less slavery because the master dresses in a government uniform and forces the slave to toil against his will on a federal plantation.
Your definition of slavery has a huge blind spot if you cant see that it is the same.
I went for other. Other countries have choices-2 years in the military, or other service.
I'd change it to 4 years, with the first two being training. And would absolutely have 'other services' being a large part of it. The 2 years of service is in exchange for the 2 years of training. And mandatory for all non-disabled.
So a person has to waste two more years of their life to pay the government back for making them waste the first two?
Nope. It's a different degree of slavery, but the state is claiming ownership over you by forcing you to serve. I believe in self-ownership. Actually, self-ownership is a fact..no belief needed. We're just trained to not see it that way.
I favor compulsory service with service being primarily in the U.S. or places that experience major natural disasters. College and/or missionary work could be put on hold for 2 years.
Border patrol and rebuilding infrastructure are two areas that come to mind.
Every child is entitled to 12 years of public education. 76% of SNAP recipients are children who also recieve meals at school. Parents have recieved 18 years of tax deductions/ credits.
Compulsory service is the opportunity to give back.
I learned to do what I was told by the time I was 5 years old. I resented it then and did for the next 60 years. I retired and my income does not depend on me doing what I am told.

Give back under threat of prison/gunpoint/violence.
How charitable you are with other peoples lives.
I just read that some Marine Corp General said something like 70% of Americans of military age are unfit for duty. They are obese or messed up on ADD drugs or God knows what else.
If this was a requirement maybe the high schools would prepare the kids physically as well as mentally just a little better for life after high school.
2 years of physical, hands on and academic training with strict discipline would not harm ANYONE.
Mandatory military "service" is not the American way.
Our Constitution provides for the army to be on a volunteer basis only.
In the case of severe necessity it is the duty of Congress to raise armies
if they deem it necessary. Anyone who favors compulsory enlistment is anti-American.
Umm, they do. And in the military you rank up fast and are compensated for overseas work.
LOL an E-1 makes 1546.80 monthly BEFORE taxes....
And what the hell are you talking about "They are compensated for being overseas"?
You obviously have no clue what the hell you are talking about.
