Have you taken a multi month USA road trip yet? Do this before you make any judgment about the beauty of the USA.

Note also that you will not always be a young student and want to be part of that scooter society.

Get yourself a scooter and digital camera and go cross country. Then write a book about it in Japanese and then sell it back in Japan and retire! Then you can sit on the subway all night long but it would be your choice.

I never made any judgement about the beauty of the USA. I stated more reasons then just being in love with scooters and many more that I didn't state.

I love Japan point blank nothing will change my mind. I have nothing against the U.S and I never said I did. I do not understand why the harsh judgment on my post. Its not like I said F AMERICA I hate this s hole.

I would love to move to France or Ireland. I know, very different but I love them both. I've been to both and it would be a very hard choice. I wish I felt this loyalty to America but I really don't. I don't see any reason we have to just look at our own country. It's 2008. We can travel anywhere and do a lot of things. If I like the climate, or the government somewhere else better why shouldn't I go for it. A lot of people still come to America for the same reasons and we think their ok.
The only problem is getting into a country now that the dollar is down and our health care sucks. A lot of them are worried your going to come there and suck the life out of their system. They are tightening the requirements a little bit.

No harsh judgment intended.

That sure is one hell of a rat race we got going over back in the USA though.
That would be my conclusion even though i've never really stepped outside of the North American continent.

A giant rat-race, indeed!

I see TONS of flaws in a country that is supposed to be so great...

Here we people are so hyped up about the first black or female president. But other countries had black and female rulers since America was even thought of. Not so ground breaking.

The only country where you do not get a certain number of days off from work legally.

EXPENSIVE to see a doc. I had pneumonia once even with the insurance it was still $50. May not seem like a lot but to me thats a weeks worth of food so I just said let me die then. Luckily I didn't .

Has a VERY long basic training time for the military reserves. If it was a few weeks like in Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand I would join. Isn't the whole point of the reserves you want to serve but you can't because of other obligations.

Mass transit is craptastic. It is only good in a handful of cities. Which are too expensive to live in.

But I digress. I do not hate it there are a few countries that I seriously hate with a passion and never want to go back. I just don't feel at home here.

If so, for what reasons and how would you go about it?

I honestly thought about it from a few factors in my life.
Here goes: from living in Detroit as a youngster and spending alot of time as a teen/young adult in Windsor, Ont., it's hard to believe the differences in the two areas being 'just right across the river'. It really is a microcosm of the differences of the two countries via history, politics and social strata. (ect..) Sometimes, as a teen, young adult, i would feel something 'ain't right' with the U.S.

Another thing is how we're programmed consumers in the U.S. is really disturbing. Take, for instance ,the art of bartering. Most U.S. consumers walk into a store willingly pay for what the price says on most consumer goods. Having lived in Phoenix with a high Mexican/hispanic population coupled with visiting the border town of Nogales, Mexico. I got to see that side of the coin. The art of bartering is lost among many ("mainstream") Americans. It is if though the U.S. (consumer) is one big mass of sheep.

Another reason is the healthcare in the U.S. (that needs no explaning other than the fact that it is fundementally flawed..in a nutshell)

I would like to hear your stories and reasons if you did move out, thought about it or in the process of doing it.

B.G.F.
Nah, I love it here. What sucks is that people who ought to leave are intent on turning us into something never intended. Its a big world with but one free country on it. Those aposed to freedom have the world at their fingertips. Those who cherish freedom & accept the responsibility that comes with it only have the USA. My family didn't leave everything behind in Europe just so we could turn here into there.

Reason we are different is because people who wanted a different better life left Europe to make one here.

I do not get wheere you think America is the only free country in the world.

People immigrated in masses from Europe how long ago? Things are different there now by the way.

Not trying to convince you but you are not correct on your facts.

In many countries people actually have more individual freedom than here in the states, more on a libertarian level.

I asked not once but a few times what makes America the best country for you as an individual over any other country, never can people come up with a good answer except a few as many never have stepped foot outside the country to even compare.

Because it is. Thats what most of the socialists complain about.

Where else can I go buy a gun & carry it around on my person as a right? Which countries dont criminalize honest citizens for wanting to defend themelves?
These places outlaw not just those horrible guns but many other tools of defense.

Which other countries even have a bill of rights or a constitution that recognizes these rights as unalienable?
My family came here between 65 & 80 years ago. Not ancient history by any means.
& things have only gotten worse in the socialist union of European subjects. Unless of course you are a gay, minority or Muslim, then your rights outweigh all others.

England & most of Europe dont even have freedom of speech. If the govt decides something shouldn't be printed its not.

Then theyre not facts are they.

Ok, I'm game, where is there less intrusion on individual liberties than here?

I think we need to work at undoing alot of the constraints imposed on us in recent decades but still believe we are the most free country on Earth, the most free that has a stable Govt anyway.

I'v been outside the country before. Ireland was great, beautifull place. Too bad part of its occupied by Great Britan tho.
Anyway what makes the US the best for me over anyplace else is easy. Its home first off but more important is I'm free to suceed or fail entirely on my own merrits. I can get whatever I want as long as I work for it or I can starve if I dont. I can buy a house anywhere & build a family or just wander freely about at my own discretion. I can own all the guns, knives, swords, bows or anything else I want until I prove I'm a danger.
So, I guess my reasons are, its home & its free.
