Since many people argue about minimum wages; how about guarantee part-time workers' $1000/month (those who work 15 - 20 hrs/week) and full-time workers' $2000/month (35 - 40 hrs/week), and abolish minimum wage?

Let's not and say we did.

And do they pay taxes? They should but oh gee then that leaves them with the same amount of money they had with MW.

Why not simply allow low-wage workers to live in (cheaper) substandard housing.

Solves problem, more liberty, less government.

What's not for conservatives to like?

That's still a minimum wage -- its just monthly instead of hourly. $2000/mo. gross is $12/hr., nearly a $5 increase over the current Federal minimum wage.

This doesn't fix anything. Mom & pop stores will struggle to find ways of dealing with a 60% increase in labor costs -- which means laying off workers, cutting corners, raising prices or shutting their doors.

Workers who don't experience a reduction in hours will get bites taken out of their paychecks as they start paying more taxes and deal with higher expenses at businesses and rent hikes from greedy landlords taking advantage of the higher minimum wage. Its already happening in Seattle, where about 1 in 10 renters are seeing rent hikes anywhere from 50% to 150%.

Most mom & pop stores don't pay min. wage, if you're a high school/college kid working like hpw they might pay you as low as $8, but mom and pop shops tend to take care of their workers, not always, but generally.

That would just be min wage using a different scale. As for paying even $1000,00 a month, that is a lot for a kid in high school who is just starting out in the working world...and how do you handle things like, calling is sick, not showing up for work, being late, etc. Should those employees still get the $1000?

I've worked with a few and I know many small business owners and I've had friends that have worked at quite a few.
