If you claim something is "offensive" and then remove it from a building and from TV and from the market place etc, that's banning and censoring. I don't want to wave a confederate flag. I want it to be protected from banning and censorship for those who want to buy one or watch the Dukes of Hazzard etc.

No, removing it from a Public building is because it isn't a flag of any nation or state, it doesn't belong on a public building. Removing it from TV is the doing of a private company who is free to sensor anything they want. City Data is free to sensor posts by changing or deleting them. And for the market place, a business is free to decide what merchandise the do and do not want to carry.

Blacks proudly wave the confederate flag and defend keeping it up where it is now hanging, because they have slave ancestors, who joined the Confederate Army. In return for doing that, they were automatically set free from slavery.

SOME people say it's offensive........

Ironically IF it is OK for a Black person to wave the flag while a White person can't, then this represents exactly the same kind of thinking which the "offended" say they are against.

Absolutely not. Progressive push for the private sector to censor and ban and punish things and speech they don't like. That's not freedom. None of the removals were done freely. They were done after pressure from progressive groups who never running out of things they want censored or banned.

Exactly. It's a double standard and discrimination based on race. According to progressive libs, just about anything and everything a white person does, says or touches is "offensive" even though they allow others to freely do the same things. If it's 'white', it ain't right, ought to be their motto.

Devils advocate here. I tend to agree with you that companies are caving to the pressure of the leftist PC mob, but some would see it as the free market at work. Keep in mind though, that sometimes the it backfires, and in turn only increases the popularity of something that is seen as negative, or threatened with boycotts. Chick Fila being one of those instances, and I have a feeling that with all of this outrage over the Confederate Flag, that it will become more popular, as there will be other avenues to purchase one. One part of human nature is, right or wrong, people don't like to be forced what to think, say or do.

The vast majority of slaves who took part in the Confederate cause were stewards, cooks, stable hands or laborers, and they didn't have a choice about being there. They were slaves, remember? There were a few--a very few--instances that historians have been able to prove a minuscule number of blacks actually fought for the South outside of serving in these support roles.

If you have any evidence of what you're saying, I'd like to see it.
