And Mark Rice--the creator of these staged "petition" videos--is a conspiracy theorist nutjob who believes the September 11th attacks were an inside job.
In other words, a shining example of today's loony GOP tea party base.

All of these things are "staged" only in that the questioner knows what he's going to get: idiocy from people on the street who are not paid actors. How quickly you've forgotten Jay Leno's sidewalk savants.
And his personal views on 9/11 have zilch to do with the responses he's getting.

All political movements fizzle out eventually in some manner. Right now the American Left is on the rise with the Millennials coming of age, and their Boomer parents declining into retirement. It's not unlike the rise of the Religious Right... which is now being soundly rebuked for their over-reach. In time I expect this New American Left movement will grow stale and decline in the same manner- overreaching with ludicrous social-justice-warrior policies.
IOW, today's Social Justice Warriors are a bunch of self-righteous moral crusaders just like their Moral Majority parents. So buckle down folks- we're in for a couple DECADES of this nonsense.
Comparing this to how religion use to control society doesn't make sense. In this case, we are talking about a minority that wants to bully the majority. This won't end well.
Inner city communities wouldn't be so dreadful of liberals didn't turn a blind eye to public schools producing millions of illiterate kids every year because keeping teachers employed trumps having their competency challenged.
Their absolute and unyielding objection to charter schools make no sense either.
