How many more adjustments to your normal freedom of movement are you prepared to make so firearms can prevail? Weren't they supposed to protect you from giving up your right to liberty and pursuit of happiness? Liberty doesn't include your ability to go to a movie without passing through security checkpoints? Pursuit of happiness doesn't include your freedom to enjoy a movie or other activity without having to consider getting shot by some nut?
Will you be prepared to absorb the loss of jobs created when people stop going to their favourite venues because they have to empty their pockets, take off their shoes, and walk through a metal detector to get wanded by some 9th grade drop-out on a summer job, just to watch a movie, shop at the mall, bowl a few frames or attend an evening mass. How stupid is this all going to get before you wake up and smell the gunpowder?
Are you folks that seriously disconnected to the reality of freedoms you're losing with this chit while stridently maintaining ONE freedom that was supposed to guarantee all those you're giving up faster than a Porche on nitrous?

I mind. I actually feel safer going through security in Europe. No removal of shoes, standard metal detectors.
Now that cockpit doors are armored and locked after takeoff, there really isn't much a hijacker could do.
I'm just stepping in here, and I'll admit that I'm somewhat late to this sad party, but what evidence do you have to substantiate your assertion that the OP among others "wanted" the shooter to be a white guy? I'll admit that others have been snarky, but the OP and many other posters have merely relayed what they have known. We would best take a moment to acknowledge the victims and their grieving families.
If you would have read my other posts, you would have seen very clearly what I was attempting to wait for something substantial, not a post with no link, nor something from a person who may or may not have been there, but as normal I was barraged with the usual leftist insults. That's fine, as you'll see (if you had read my posts) I also apologized to the OP.
Many people who are white, fell bad they are white, look at the white privilege threads, just here on CD.

The increased airport security was due to men with box cutters. I cannot remember the last time I had to take off my shoes or otherwise checked. Probably at a club 30 years ago.

People use that slippery slope in defense of the existing status quo. Honestly, I think it is a good idea because these idiots won't read and adhere to the signs saying guns aren't permitted in the theater venue. Arizona is an open carry state but I doubt the signs would prevent a shooting like this. Metal detectors, DO. You would need to pull am Aurora with propping the exit door open to enter to pull an attack of that sort with metal detectors.

You just shoot the person at the metal detector. If someone is absolutely intent on harming people there is nothing you can do. How would have metal detectors stopped Timothy McVeigh?
