And to support this notion of barriers all you need to do is point to the mountain of data showing black underachievement relative to other races. And all conservatives can do at that point is claim that blacks aren't trying hard enough.

After all, once you accept the idea that all racial groups are equally capable on average, then you are left with only two basic explanations for black underperformance - either whites are systematically racist or blacks are just lazy.

Conservatives need to reject this relatively recent, entirely false premise of group average equality. No, blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, etc. are not inherently equal on average in all things. We can and should treat individuals equally, regardless of race. But we can not realistically expect equal group outcomes.

This hits a homerun no liberal wants to see/hear.
I was solely disappointed in the video. It superficially touched on 3 topics, Affirmative Action, Voter ID and School Vouches and passed them off as proof conservative aren't racist. Pretty weak defense and hardly what I call an in-depth a study of racialism.

As usual, there are people who will take any topic and manipulate it to serve their purpose.

As a prime example, there are some minorities who use the word "Racist":

If they don't get their way: You are a Racist!
If you don't place them on a pedestal: You are a Racist!
If you don't hire them: You are a Racist!
If you don't bow down to them: You are a Racist!
If you arrest them: You are a Racist!

These are the people who ruin it for everyone, no matter what color your skin or your heredity.

What conservatives think of themselves and what is actually happening to minorities are two completely different things. A slave owner can look at a slave and say "He's just as capable as me" and yet not lift a finger to help the slave out of his bondage. That's basically what the video is doing: paying lip-service to minorities while they are shot and killed by police for traffic stops, disproportionately jailed, disproportionately poor, disproportionately under-educated, disproportionally questioned and stopped, unable to access quality nutrition, and on and on.

The video is all talk and lots of claims and no action. Do conservatives typically support police and incarceration reform? No. That's Democrats. And yet the unfair treatment of African Americans by law enforcement is a reality, not something liberals made up. But conservatives like the one in the video would have us think none of this is happening to African Americans and minorities.

I'm not saying all conservative racism is conscious, most of it, I would say, is unconscious and misguided politics.

I've seen racism across the spectrum, personally, but I think it's safe to say the racists are the people, like those at the Trump rally in Alabama, repeatedly yelling "white power", proposing people get paid to shoot Mexicans, and calling the black people who worked on a man's farm the n-word.

‘White power!': Trump’s Alabama ‘pep rally’ brings out folks who want to shoot ‘illegals’ at the border

Imagine, all this in 2015. Scary stuff.

I think part of the problem is many conservatives simply don't want to acknowledge some minority groups are treated differently by police or employers and such. By denying a problem even exists, we can't work through it to the ideal in which everyone truly is judged by the content of their character.

Gee, seems to me you are talking not about minorities, but about the majority.

Sorry, but I counted Tim Scott.

The point is not who YOU think represents Black people. The point is who Black people think represents them.

P.S. Rand Paul is white.

The point is who leads blacks to the water hole and leaves them there? What are the values of black people? Do blacks favor gun control? The inability to defend one's self is akin to slavery. Democrats want to take that freedom away. How about the school voucher fact? Do you favor busing instead? It has proven to be a failed social effort to force integration.

$15 hr minimum wage? If you think unemployment is bad now, wait until that albatross comes to roost. Subway will have $10 foot longs and McDonald's will have a $5 value menu. Walmart will have Macy's prices and cell phone plans will be through the roof. Imagine what women will think of when their nail salon bill tops $75 because the nail painters get $15 hr.
Groceries will be stupid expensive. $4 loaves of bread, $5 gallon of milk...it's very real as someone is going to pay for it. So, who represents black people?
Who do black people want to depend on...themselves or a political party which gives them things they could be earning themselves?
Black people don't know what republicans are about because they have been lead blindly to the blue side and told it's the best they can do.
Meanwhile, rich white democrats and other progressive liberals who claim to champion the cause of minorities don't really give a sh*t about you. Evidence? Their exclusive neighborhoods away from you. Obama owns a huge mansion in the nice part of Chicago - not near the hoods.

No, the point is that White folks like you shouldn't be telling Blacks who should represent them. They're independent individuals who can their own political decisions.

Do I favor busing. Well, having worked in a school where white students were bused from Bowie, Maryland into Thomas Pullen Junior High during the 1970s, it actually worked quite well. There were few racial tensions in our school. And it certainly worked better than the school districts in parts of the South where to avoid integration, school systems totally shut down schools for extended periods of time (a number of places in Virginia did just that as a result of state regulations). School vouchers, no, I am opposed to making struggling schools struggle even more.

I guess you don't go out for fast food much. I rarely get out of a fast food restaurant now for less than $6. But the point really is, what should be a LIVING wage.

The roughly 90% of Black people who are Democrats aren't stupid. They know who THEY WANT to represent them. If THEY change their minds and begin moving toward the Republican Party, that's THEIR CHOICE, not yours.

Oh I see, all Blacks should live in bad neighborhoods. I get you.

they want people to represent them that give away the store, buy their votes, but I don't blame them, its nice to get something for free, even if its not deserved.
