Here's some hope and change you can believe in. I remember when Americans respected authority, but now after 7 years of the "Great Community Organizer" the cops are targets. Strong work Democrats. Really hope you're happy.
Meanwhile, in the real world, there's numbers and stuff to deal with, instead of raw emotion.
I don't know which timeframe you recall so fondly, but let's say during the Reagan years - you like Reagan, right? - the figures for officers killed were as follows:
Which of these were cold-blooded disregard for black lives?
The 12 year old that was waiving a fake gun at people in the park?
The guy in Walmart that refused to follow police commands and appeared to have a weapon?
The guy running from the police after committing a felony?
Those 3? They would all still be alive if they simply cooperated and didn't waive weapons, resist arrest or run.
12 year old Tamir Rice was given two seconds to drop his toy gun. That's not even enough time for him to realize they were talking to him. If that had been a grown white guy with a real gun he would have started babbling about his second amendment rights and wouldn't have been killed. He'd probably have a video up on Youtube called "schooling police on the right to bear arms"
What use are those guns anyway other then making some kind of statement? Hey look at me, I have a gun. Some robber pulls out a pistol what good is that gun strapped to your back going to do?

I was making a general comment that the BLM movement would be better served if they stopped using Michael Brown as the face of their movement. It was all based on lies. There are far better incidents to use.
BLM is social media staging "flash protests." A cell phone and a Twitter account is all necessary for someone to say he is a BLM "charter." There is no BLM hierarchy, no formal network, no national or even regional strategic operation. Just a scattering of people with cell phones and Twitter accounts (and a website or two).
It sure seems to have struck a nerve, though, to assert that Black Lives Matter.

Thank you for those facts but I am afraid they make no difference to those that want to practice Reaganolatry. It is a strange belief that requires dismissal of facts. On the economy, Reagan's record is trumped by Bill Clinton’s on every front: GDP growth, job creation, family incomes. For that matter, the average monthly rate of private-sector job creation under Jimmy Carter was faster than the average rate under Reagan. But no matter, according to true believers, we hadn't had a good economy since Reagan and back then the public respected authority.

Thanks for those statistics. Even outside of those statistics, I don't blame President Obama for the resentment towards police officers. This kind of anger and hate towards the police was evident in the 1960s, when all of those riots took place.
I have no idea why someone would think this is our President's or the Democratic Party's fault...I blame the police officers who made stupid decisions.

The hatred for police officer started a while back. This is nothing compared to what we saw in the early 90's when rappers were singing about killing cops. Ice-T was famous for that, now he plays a cop in law and order.
Reality is that is a risky profession. They are no heroes, they are getting paid good salaries for taking those risks. It's sad when cops get killed on the job. It is also sad when some cops abuse their power and kill citizens.
