Just like back in 1937 the government made it illegal to possess or use marijuana and not a single person has since.

Simple prohibition always works perfectly. Everybody knows that.
As we have seen gun laws in neighboring Mexico have been very successful in lowering gun crime rates all along the border.

Lie (as usual). REPORTING of mass shootings is on the rise, HYSTERIA about mass shootings is on the rise, POLITICAL EXPLOITATION of mass shootings is on the rise, but mass shootings are not on the rise.

What is on the rise is the number of law abiding citizens carrying firearms and STOPPING mass shootings from happening.

Did it occur to any of those anti-law folks that having gun laws in place gives us an avenue to charge and prosecute those who defy these laws? Without these laws, we can only congratulate the people who sell and buy assault weapons, while circumventing background checks, through gun show loopholes.

so in other words your contention is to make MORE illegal for felons to own firearms? how do you do that? its already illegal from convicted felons to own firearms.

"Assault weapon is a term used in the United States to define some types of firearms. The definition varies among regulating jurisdictions, but usually includes semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine and a pistol grip, and sometimes other features such as a flash suppressor or barrel shroud."

Now can you quit deflecting?

The Harvard link looks like I need to view on my computer vs phone but it is subjective data sent to people who research firearms. I will have to look at that further.
A 2007 study is no longer relevant since the number of mass shootings has skyrocketed since then.

Your chart is wrong and probably propagated by the NRA.

Best source is the FBI.

Findings
In this study, the FBI identified 160 active shooter incidents, noting they occurred in small
and large towns, in urban and rural areas, and in 40 of 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Though incidents occurred primarily in commerce and educational environments (70.0%),
they also occurred on city streets, on military and other government properties, and in private
residences, health care facilities, and houses of worship.

The findings establish an increasing frequency of incidents annually. During the first 7 years
included in the study, an average of 6.4 incidents occurred annually. In the last 7 years of
the study, that average increased to 16.4 incidents annually.

The findings also reflect the damage that can occur in a matter of minutes. In 64
incidents where the duration of the incident could be ascertained, 44 (69.0%) of 64
incidents ended in 5 minutes or less, with 23 ending in 2 minutes or less. Even when law
enforcement was present or able to respond within minutes, civilians often had to make
life and death decisions,
and, therefore, should be engaged in training and discussions on
decisions they may face.

If you had any knowledge of firearms, you wouldn't even use the term. Once again, you are happily parroting the ideology of the gun grabber crowd while claiming to support the 2nd Amendment. Hypocrisy makes you a hypocrite.

And yet gun violence as a whole is down dramatically since the early 1990's (yet there are more guns out there). Check the graph here

Try not stigmatizing mental illness to the point that people are ashamed to get treatment. I know, it's more of a social change than a new law, but it's a start.
