The socialist left is promoting an increasingly successful agenda to legalize assisted suicide, in truth because these people have no value to them, and they value their depopulation agenda more than the lives of these people. It is dehumanizing to say the least. It is also ghoulish in the extreme. But this is apparently what passes for "progress" in the minds of the so-called "progressives".

The American left is advocating a pro-death culture on a number of fronts. This is just the latest.

Kirsten Powers: Suicide by any other name

Assisted suicide advocates often claim that they merely want to help people avoid pain in their final days. But according to Oregon's public health department, the top reasons given for physician-assisted suicide in the state are loss of autonomy (91.4%), decreased ability to engage in enjoyable activities (86.7%), loss of dignity (71.4%), loss of control of bodily functions (49.5%) and becoming a burden on others (40%).

Is anyone ashamed that we live in a culture where people believe that if they aren’t autonomous or might be a burden on others that they should ingest drugs and die? This is the unrelenting message of the “right-to-die” crowd that sees “dignity” in shoving people toward death when they are in their most vulnerable state.

If someone really wants to kill themselves, it's going to happen, whether it's "illegal" or not.

I mean, honestly, what kind of idiocy is it making suicide illegal? What are you going to do to the person who successfully completes suicide? And what sort of sense would it be to punish someone who already feels so overwhelmed with life and problems they want to kill themselves?

Seems to me a legal regime of suicide could include requisites of psychological counseling and checks and balances.

Socialist "I do not think that word means what you think it means." Inigo Montoya "The Princess Bride"

It's what passes for progress in the minds of intelligent, compassionate, caring people. Of course you'd disagree.

Dehumanizing is being forced to watch a loved one die wasted and shrivelled into the fetal position experiencing unimaginable agony while knowing in advance the wishes of that person was a death with dignity...you know like that of the horse you shot because the break was too serious to fix or the favoured and loved pet your vet convinced you to euthanize because the prolonging of life would be considered cruel by anyone's standards.

Dehumanizing would be for the rest of us in favour of such a move; show up after paying for a ticket, to watch you go through a hell you neither deserved nor would have desired for yourself and forcing you to look at our smirking faces with a: "how's that non assisted, three-month-long death going for you, bro?"

You people and your zealotry towards government conspiracies in all things...at least make an effort to maintain some semblance of cognitive rationale.

So, by your little rant about the 'socialist left' should we assume the regressive right once again believes government should interfere more in peoples' lives despite their continual allegations of believing in less government interference?

People shouldn't be allowed to die until the last penny's been squeezed out of them by the medical, big pharma and/or 'eldercare' industries.

If you have ever watched someone die from cancer, then you understand the right to die movement. The pain is unbearable, and your loved one is no longer who they were. Every shred of dignity is stripped away by the pain. If I were to be diagnosed with terminal cancer, I believe I would choose to leave this Earth on my own terms.

Do you truly believe end stage cancer patients in at home hospice really need the copious amounts of morphine that regularly get prescribed before they pass away in their sleep? End of life choices has been part of medicine since basically forever. And legislation like Oregon's protects doctors and family members from over zealous prosecution.

So nice of the Health-Care lobby to take the time to respond!
