Idiots like to trot out, "B-b-b-but the Crusades!" It's like they just heard someone tell them that meant all Christians were evil instead of actually learning why they happened.
I am grateful for all the response in this thread.
It shows we are of varying opinions.
My original post was asking about hatred, and mistrust, and perhaps I should have been more explicit.
For the most part, I really wanted to know how, when, and why the hatred and mistrust by the younger generations has risen to the levels they are today., not so much groups like radical muslims.
Why has it reached a point where people no longer respect authority?
I am not talking just law enforcement, but authority in general.
The respect of law has flown out the window, and I would like to know how this happened.
When I was young, respect for law, and authority was a basic part of life.
One respected their parents, teachers, law enforcement, neighbors, etc.
Why and how has that all changed?
It seems that everyone has a cause, and they want to be heard, but what is really behind it?
Why are all these people just now coming out of the woodwork to express their hate and distrust ?
Who is responsible for what we see going on in this country, let alone the rest of the world?
When, and how, did law enforcement fail in it's duty to protect and be impartial?
When did it turn into a "us against them" mentality?
These very principals of disrespect seem to be fueled by an ever increasing ,angry populous.
Obviously there are no easy answers, but perhaps going back to the root causes of the problem, may help in solving it.
It had to have had a beginning.

I think personal empowerment went a little overboard.
You cannot be brought up on a steady diet of you being a "precious little snowflake" without it eventually going to your head and you ultimately believing it.
As best I can see, it started with the 1960's, at least for America.
Ask African-Americans, Native Americans, women, and other peoples oppressed by patriarchal white males and they will give you an entirely different answer. For minorities and women, life didn't start to improve until the 1960s. Sorry if your precious SWM self can't handle other races and genders being on a more equal footing (at least compared to the 1950s and before). It's not exclusively a white man's world anymore. Get used to it.

Awe. Somebody unhappy wit history. Too bad. Need a safe space? Want a cookie?
An admission that white men have benefited from centuries of institutionalized racism and sexism would suffice.
Some white males have benefited because they wielded power ruthlessly.
The remainder is a modern construct extrapolated to a past where those contemporaries would have not comprehended what you are referring to as it would be alien to their world. Probably whip you to get back to your labors as well. Or enter you sexually if you are comely female.
I think you've missed the point, it is the aid, and petro dollars that they find offensive.
Then they are comparable to a prostitute resenting the cash after she spreads for it.
