BYE! You always need times like this....keep on the right track and you lose some of the cultural marxist elements that will infiltrate most groups/churches etc. No loss at all.
Well there are 15 million mormons worldwide and over 6 million in the USA so this action doesn't really change the numbers much.I don't agree with the policy as it pertains to the children but only time will tell how it affects the church overall.
I don't know where Mormon theology falls on this issue. I know there are complaints from other denominations of Mormon's baptizing "their", the other religion's, dead. In any case has the LDS Church proclaimed that they are following previous Catholic/Orthodox practice of refusing to baptize if they had the belief that a child was not going to be raised Catholic, such as with same sex marriage, people shacking up or even a Catholic married by a Protestant clergy or secular state official. Even if the theology then said those children would go to hell at death, because of their parents? Are we proposing that the Mormon's follow current Catholic practice of playing don't ask don't tell and pretending that they believe the same sex couple are celibate and teaching that to the child or hold a forlorn hope the child will be raised in the faith and go ahead and baptize?
I guess the Evangelicals, both those who see a supernatural significance in being dunked and those who see it as a church/community tradition and show and only baptize those they think are old enough to come to a decision and ask to be part of the ceremony themselves don't have to worry about this debate. Or even the Orthodox/Catholic position that it does matter, unless you happen to die before the big Holy Week party that the church elders made you wait for. I guess they have the right to determine there own date for the issue. Be it the Old Testament time of the Jews reaching moral accountability or the secular state saying when you can enter into a contract
Is this another mod dump thread? Does it belong here or in the religion section?
I wish mods would stop doing this.
