The Choice: Why*Angela Merkel*Is TIME

Angela Merkel is named Time Person of the Year ahead of ISIS leader al-Baghdadi and Donald Trump | Daily Mail Online

I'm at a loss for words. What is wrong with these people?

Excellent choice, very courageous and smart leader, handled the immigration problem and Greece with grace and dignity. Our politicians could learn from her example.

Time has taken a moment to teach anyone who thinks al-Baghdadi, Putin or Trump was worthy of this accolade what real leadership is actually about. Learn something folks!

Her decision to rip up the Dublin Convention and announce that any Syrian can claim asylum in Germany will lead to more people putting their hands in the lives of unscrupulous human traffickers as they try desperately to make it to Germany. This will, tragically, lead to more deaths.

Her insane policy ignores the plight of those in refugee camps on the Syrian border; the UNHCR say that they have a $795 million funding gap in their Syrian operation.

Merkel’s refugee policy is short-sighted and not properly thought through. It fails the test of true statesmanship.

This being said, How about regular German people? There are some German schools ordered girls not to wear short skirts because they might offend Muslim students or they might get raped.

She has laid down to the entire German nation with her decision to welcome at least 800,000 new migrants by the end of this year. I am not suggesting Germany should not accept any refugees, but 800,000? really?

There are already Protestors demonstrate against the accommodation for immigrants in Freital, Germany. These are not the neo-nazis, but regular concerns German citizens. They say they are not Nazis, but they demand the law is respected, but the government just takes them for fools.

It seems like one politician or one party makes a decision and tells the world "This is what Germans wanted."

Mrs Merkel’s apparently open invitation for refugees – too many economic migrants, mostly from the Balkans, are getting in as well.

My family members in Germany are some of the MOST peaceful, understanding, loving, and accepting people who have never had any problems with immigrants. But they are very concerned about the future. They never had any problems with anybody until now.

There are already Germany schools ordered girls not to wear short skirt, because they might offend Muslim students or they might get raped.

I understand that people are suppose to be compassionate and sensitive toward refugees, but Merkel's plan is so flawed in so many different ways.

She is the person of the year alright.

It'll be the last win and the last vote she ever gets.

I'm just relieved that bigot Kim Davis didn't get it. That hateful head of hers is big enough without pumping it up even more. And actually, that last statement applies equally to Trump.

No, I'm upset because she is destabilizing and destroying Germany. I couldn't care less about Trump. Although I agree with with him that Merkel is ruining Germany.
