After over 7 years of unnecessarily wasted billions of U.S. tax dollars fighting a pointless 'war' in that nation, and tens of thousands of U.S. troops killed and maimed horribly, it is apparent that these Iraqi forces still cannot do any military operation of significance solely on their own.

So pointless.

Sounds like air strikes mean ISIS can no longer openly move troops in large numbers and their supply trains are getting bombed. I always thought ISIS as a large state wasn't a long term threat. No one knew who they were before they stupidly starting beheading aid workers from all over the world. Before that they were just another anti Asaad rebel group. You can't fix stupid.

It has been a heck of a lot longer than 7 years, but it is not pointless. Iraqis have good reasons to kick ISIS out of their territory.

They got the might of the US Air Force behind them, or above them, and it still has taken 7 months just to make a move. While enjoying that, the ingrates are saying we don't need the US. We can do it all on our own. 300 ISIS fighters cut off from the rest of the country have kept them at bay for a year.

The whole mess in Iraq started with the invasion in March 2003.

Last American combat operation ended in August of 2010, with troops withdrawing a year later.

So around 8 at most.

But I suppose we never left that hell hole in a way.

We didn't abandon them like we did with Vietnam.

Isn't that what this thread is about? How we never have actually left? We never did. We simply called soldiers, "contractors" for awhile.

Now we are calling them "air support".

ISIS is running out of ammo guns and Abrams. Strategically retreat and let these cities restock and do it all over again.

And people say the US isn't funding ISIS.
