One of my crazy friends told me months ago that integration in the U.S. military was one of the worst things to happen to the U.S. LOL. Do you agree or disagree?
Most people in the military don't see a real difference. Having served as a Corpsman, I can tell you that when you are down, or under fire, nobody cares what your race is. When the cover is lifted, we are all pink underneath. There are some units where racism does exist, which is a sign of poor leadership of the unit.

Did your friend serve? Did they say WHY it was a horrible idea? From my personal point of view I think integration that is forced is ALWAYS wrong. My father who DID SERVE in the late 70's early 80's said he refused to reenlist because he was the wrong race for the Army. Said white's were held to higher standard and blacks were never punished....he blatantly told this to his Sgt when he was asked if he wanted to reenlist. I now have 2 cousins in the Air Force and they seem to like it course they are in jobs that require HIGH IQ so maybe its not as bad...not sure.
When my brother served in the Marine Corps, he belonged to a tight-knit elite unit. Some best time of his life.
From what I know, combat units are not so obsessed with race. Growing up with Marines, I heard all types of racial and gender or sexual jokes will make sailors blush, I don't think these people really mean anything bad.
Integrating women into combat unit is not a good idea, in my opinion. If you had an entitled or victim mentality, don't join the military, If you were too sensitive, don't join, life would be too miserable for you
The military has achieved successful integration in large part because it is both selective and racially unbiased in who it accepts. Unlike universities which admit students through affirmative action, and end up putting less able minorities on campuses where they cannot compete, soldiers of different races working together are well matched for IQ and general ability. The armed forces also have a high degree of control over the lives of individual soldiers and can create situations in which small groups of men develop bonds to each other which override the natural inclination to stick with one's own racial or ethnic group.
Integrating the military and prisons is no better an idea than integrating schools and neighborhoods was.
I saw a clip on Decades network that blacks were insubordinate and rioting on a carrier ship in Vietnam in a warzone. The military didn't punish them and mostly buried and white washed it, blaming it on 'war protests', whites or such. They got to keep the myth of integration being good alive at any cost.

True but the military still has become PC and applies affirmative action. Whites particularly males are held to a harder standard and treated with contempt.

Does he realize that leftie, progressive socialist democrat Woodrow Wilson segregated the armed forces?
The military should never have been segregated to begin with...it didn't happen in a vacuum.
