Hanging, slitting wrists, neglect..., you don't need a gun. Cheery stuff!

Posted this before somewhere along the way, and since Japan has come up again, maybe worth repeating?

"Japan has no history of Christianity," he says "so here suicide is not a sin. In fact, some look at it as a way of taking responsibility."

Ken Joseph from the Japan Helpline agrees. He says their experience over the last 40 years shows that elderly people who are in financial trouble may see suicide as a way out of their problems.

"The insurance system in Japan is very lax when it comes to paying out for suicide," he says.

"So when all else fails - some people feel - you can just kill yourself and the insurance will pay out.

"There is sometimes an intolerable pressure on the elderly that the most loving thing they can do is take their lives and thereby provide for their family."

Just goes to show there's always something else to blame when guns are out of the picture.

I don't think the intelligent debate among intelligent people involves the blaming of the rope or razor blade or gun, right?

Or maybe your comment here is addressing the straw man that you find it easier to argue with. I'm guessing that's got to be it...

When we can.

People with guns cause violence. Separating the people from guns helps prevent violence. Understand now?

I should hope not.

If that's a strawman, what's the point in including suicides in the gun violence count? Especially since we don't call it "toaster violence" for a toaster in the bathtub.

Stupidity is the cause for some of the mass shootings. The college I am attending is in one three story "gun free" building. It is outside of town. 5-6 minutes from the closest police dept. Has no security doors. Right inside the front doors is the security guard. He is not allowed to have a gun even though he is a retired deputy sheriff and carries one all day in his current day job of transporting prisoners. Even though I am a veteran, trained with handguns and have a CCW, I cannot carry at school. We are told, in case of attack, to shut and lock the wood doors. Whoopee. That will sure stop shots.

People with guns don't cause violence either. If that were the case, America would have been the most violent country in the world by a far far margin as it has more guns than people.

No, only criminals with guns would cause violence and the vast majority of the people aren't criminals. Separating criminals from guns helps prevent violence while separating guns from law abiding citizens does jack squat which has been the idiocy the liberals have been pushing.

Understand now?

Then stop blaming guns. Also stop bringing up "suicide by guns."

You must be swinging your Quixote sword at someone else, because I don't blame guns, never have, and I don't recall bringing up "suicide by guns." Again, maybe if you will please quote me verbatim, we can all be brought out of your dense fog, but meanwhile..., best you be ignored and/or left with your demons I think.
