It wasn't just Europeans with colonialism. It was the Ottoman Turks, who controlled that area before it lost the First World War, resulting in that land being divided between Britain and France. In a war, the spoils go to a winner.
Why don't you ever whine about Islamic colonialism? They way they invaded Zoroastrian Iran, pagan & Coptic Egypt, Berber North Africa, Black Sudan, and Jewish Israel, sticking their noses where it didn't belong? They should have stayed in Saudi Arabia.
