You are definitely right. The country wasn't near as polarized under Clinton. He was able to work out compromises with the GOP that Obama hasn't been able to do. To be fair though, today's GOP is much farther to the right than the GOP of the 1990s.

I do think the root of this tension has to do with his race. Not just because he is African American but also because his familial roots are foreign and his middle name is Hussein. Many people in the area where I live call him President Hussein and say that's all the proof they need that he is a Muslim. That is why they have absolutely no respect for him. Clinton was seen in conservative circles as a joke, but there was still an element of respect for the President and the office that isn't there today.

That makes older white conservatives in the South extremely distrustful of him. That's why you saw the Tea Party rise almost immediately after Obama took office, and the Tea Party was far to the right of mainstream Republicans of the past. That is why Trump is doing so well and has such a following. Obama represents the pluralistic Americana of the 21st century. Those who long for the good ole' days of the 1950s absolutely cannot handle that. Obama is proof that their day in history has passed. That is why they are angry.

On the flip side, both Obama and Clinton had a democratic congress for their first two years in office. Clinton failed at health care reform, where Obama succeeded.

Anyway, here is how I rank them:

1. Bill Clinton (Amazing president)
2. Barack Obama (Great president)
3. George H.W. Bush (Very good president)
4. Ronald Reagan (OK president)
5. George W. Bush (Joke)
Yes, Clinton was amazing at getting impeached.

And for supplying N. Korea with nuclear material (at our cost) for "energy" purposes which, of course, N. Korea uses instead to build nuclear weapons.

And for changing the way the FBI could obtain information (could not obtain any from an informant with a felony record) which made the U.S. much less secure and made it easier for the 9/11 attacks to happen.

The true "joke" was Clinton (Obama isn't far behind). Reagan should be listed under "amazing president."

The GOP of the 1980s were most fiscally conservative than the GOP of today.

The 1950s were a decade before the decay of the country started.

They play in New Jersey but they are officially the New York Giants, and Jimmy Carter was officially president 35 years ago. If you had posted that list at 12:01 p.m. on January 20, 2016 you would have a point.

Most conservatives point to the 1960s as when the decay of the country started. Why? African Americans finally achieved equal rights under the law during that decade. Women also made huge advancements in equality and the workplace. The sexual revolution also occurred and what had previously been happening behind closed doors was now talked about in the open and people were forced to talk about homosexuality. This also meant a woman didn't have to stay in an unhappy relationship or with an abusive husband. What really angers conservatives is that the 1960s was the decade that the country started taking separation of church and state more seriously and ended state-sponsored school prayer.

Question is, why are these changes such a bad thing? What is so wrong with an America where people are free to be individuals and chase their dream? What is wrong with an America where the white, Protestant, straight male isn't any more privileged than everyone else?

And the 1980s was more fiscally conservative than today? Please. Reagan was one of the worst debt Presidents in history up until that time.

Got a hard time giving a President a thumbs up mark when he lies directly to the American people to pass his concepts.

Sure, presidents have lied before and they have even lied when talking to America, but this one rather takes the cake when he is telling them things that will directly affect their lives, knowing other things are going to happen.

The liberals have a drinking game. Every time Obama says " I" in a speech, they have a shot of kool aid and grain alcohol.

Better then looking like a total fool since no president knows their speech by heart.
