Besides the fact that we need to close our southern border, wouldn't it be smart to stop ALL immigration until we get this country back on track?
We allow too much legal immigration from 3rd world countries, allow too many asylum seekers, and too many "refugees" especially muslim "refugees" who don't assimilate and turn areas into little Mogadishu(minneapolis) and dearbornistan(dearborn MI).
Theodore Roosevelt said that people should assimilate and become nothing but Americans.
The UN and our government have brought people here that don't assimilate and many that live off the public dole.
The statue of liberty doesn't say "give us your tired poor huddled masses....so you can come leach of our country and take welfare"
We do need to close up the southern border. That's for sure.
Allowing highly educated immigrants in has been conducive to our productivity. Do we need construction workers, plumbers, IT workers and other skilled labor immigrants in mass quantities? Absolutely not. And these should limited significantly. Do we need highly skilled scientists and computer scientists? Yes... at least until we start producing more of the competent ones. Unfortunately, we don't have enough decent schools to do it.
It's called recycling. The U.S. dumped on their countries for years, now they are just returning the favor.
Yeah sure, any excuse to defend illegal immigration, right? Let's not blame the Mexican government for not providing jobs to their own citizens, right?

Legal immigrants are not illegal immigrants... Reading the OP might help.
