Keep in mind "approval" doesn't translate to votes in Trump's case. Most of his own voters don't approve of his character, but that won't stop them for voting for him again if the other option is a Hillary

The gap between approval and disapproval ratings is there with every poll.

However, these are the numbers that will likely make the difference in November.

While there aren't a lot of potential new voters among the old codgers, lot of room in the 19 - 44 demographic.

Since the thread is about midterms, the other option is unlikely to be Clinton.

If we are talking about 2020, same applies.

Republicans haven't spent decades spreading lies, insults, and fake conspiracy theories about the other possible Democratic candidates.

They need to get on with it. Time's slipping by.

Unlikely? It's damn near impossible, Democrats will never let her run again. But as stated if they nominated another Hilary like Elizabeth Warren or similar it's an easy re-election for Trump

"It's the economy, stupid"
As long as the economy is doing well, Trump can do and say all the stupid s$#t he wants and many people will give him a pass. As soon as the economy starts to fall, which is inevitable, his support will tank.

Ah, so the Right now puts stock in CNN? And they celebrate a 42% Approval rating.....

BTW, that's about as low as Obama EVERY got in 8 years!
Presidential Approval Ratings -- Barack Obama | Gallup Historical Data & Trends

At the time of Obamas re-election (which I remember as somewhat close), Obama was 50-52%.

In other words - 42% in one poll don't mean nuthing!

Wake me up when Trump has a full month over 50%.

By the way, Trumps numbers are equal to:
Venezueleans who would leave their country.
Russians who think their elections are run honestly.
And other similar stuff.....

Americans satisfied with the direction of the USA DROPPED to 28% in March from the mid-30's the month before.

Intelligent people look at dozens (or more) of data points when deciding what means something..and/or what it means.

Here are the basic numbers - notice the disapproval spread....
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/latest_polls/

BTW, those in the know say to throw out Rasmussen polling which has been wrong so often that it's not worth looking at. But even those skewed polls show a 17 point spread in "direction". Well, since the Trump admin and congress are in the drivers seat, "direction" has a strong meaning.

Has anyone noticed that the USA Government has to borrow almost $300 billion this week, the largest amount in a long time? So where are the people who were so worried about the size of the national debt under Obama? It seems that under the Trump administration, all the talk about the horrible debt that we constantly heard about not wanting to leave for our children and grandchildren is not an issue any more. We seem to have happily traded present tax cuts for loading up on more debt. Guess the kids/grandkids will just have to work it our for themselves.

As we get closer to the midterms, I wonder if people will wake up to what is going on or will just blissfully be happy borrowing more and more.

Make America Broke Again

Oh, he definitely is of the old school when it comes to racism and women.....as far as Jews, I'd have to do more research, he likes them to be his accountants and lawyers, but they are not as great as he is (in his opinion)....

When I say "old school" - that would be defined as misogomy and racist today. I don't create the modern world - just looking at it. My 87 year old parents often use the N word and also expect that people of color do most of the dirty and hard jobs. By the standards of today (and maybe even yesterday) that would make them either racist or bigoted.

Of course, we all have preconceived ideas. The problem with some older and rural people and Trumpies is that they don't come in enough contact with the modern world, so if things have changed they don't always come up to date.

On thing for sure. The Trumps have figured out not to insult Asians since they buy so many condos.
