Cdc and everyone else: any introduction of smoke to the lungs is bad. All links to cancer are corollary.
Thanks for posting that article.
Extremely informative, which leads me to ask, why doesn't the ACS, who must be aware of the ALA studies, use the ALA information in ads against smoking weed?
As I stated in the original post, I have yet to see ONE ad from ACS related to smoking weed.
Could it be they are being paid off by concerns that could be hurt should they get on board with a campaign to let the public in on the dangers of smoking marijuana?
I've read research that says one joint puts a lot more toxins in the lungs and body than one cigarette but people tend to smoke a lot more than one cigarette per day.
For as long as I can remember, the American cancer society has waged a battle over smoking cigarettes.
They have spent millions on ads stating the consequences of smoking, including "second hand smoke".
I have yet to see them come out with even one word about smoking marijuana.
Why is this.
Smoke in the lungs is very often a killer, and it boggles my mind why they have not come out against marijuana.
Anyone have an idea as to why the ACS is so silent on this issue?
Bob.
Good question.
Cannabis contains 459 chemical compounds including 49 known carcinogens, and 13 suspect carcinogens.
One of the same carcinogens cannabis and tobacco have in common is benzopyrene.

And yet not even one documented case of cancer caused by cannabis in history. How do you explain that?
